Value-added services

Value-added services are services that are not part of a company’s core business. Rather, they are part of its range of offerings and, as a result, produce an added-value for the customer. Examples in logistics include packaging service and parcel pick-up at the customer’s location.

Vendor-managed inventory

VMI is a warehousing concept in which the supplier manages the customer’s warehouse. The supplier focuses on delivery capacity and inventory levels. Frequently, the warehouse is located at the premises of the customer who receives the goods.

Visibility

“Visibility” is a term from supply chain management that describes the possibility of seeing detailed information about various processes within a supply chain. This is done in real time or nearly in real time. This transparency makes it easier to examine processes and improve them where necessary.
